Citrix Workspace Local Drive Access



When you log in to Winstat using Citrix Workspace, it will automatically create network drives that connect to the local drives of your computer. They will appear at the bottom of the list of drives, with names like Local Disk (C: on.) and CD/DVD Drive (D: on.). The last part of the name will be the name of your local computer.

I just had to research a case where a user could not save a file from his Citrix published Excel session. All of the help that came up online was older than the version of Citrix we were dealing with. For their Citrix Receiver Version 4.1, this was the solution.

Problem:

User clicks on “Local Disk” from a published application in Citrix and gets this error rather than the Citrix prompt for local drive access (or Permit All Access):

Solution:

You must connect to an application on your Citrix server and then go into the Connection Center through the Citrix client and change a permission setting. Sky go xbox one.

1. To get there, open the tool tray and find the black Citrix icon, right click and click “About” on the pop-up menu.

2. Click on Connection Center

3. In the Session Security section, find the “Files:” drop down box and notice it says “No Access”

4. Change it to “Ask Permission”

5. Now the next time you try to access a local disk, you will be greeted with a prompt for permission:

Working With Files Using Citrix Workspace:

CCIT provides every user with 10 GBs of network storage, referred to as the U: drive or home directory. Citrix automatically maps your U: drive, or gives you direct access to your U: drive from your Windows Explorer window, when you are connected and is the default save location. When using Quick Access folders like Desktop, Documents, Downloads, and Pictures, they are redirected to your U: drive and will be available whenever you log into Citrix. These are outlined in orange in the image below. This is recommended for increased performance and to ensure your work is backed up.

But, if you would like to save or open files on your local computer (not your network U: drive), navigate to the local disk with your computers name in parentheses. For example: Local Disk (C: on Matt-Laptop). These are outlined in purple in the image below.
